May Is National Bike Month

SportsThe Missouri Bicycle Federation Invites Missourians to Get Out and Ride During Bike Month--the 48th year of this nationwide celebration.

"Perfect weather and the high price of gas give you two good reasons to get that bike out this month and go for a ride," says Bicycle Federation Chair Brent Hugh. "That little bulge you've noticed growing around your middle this winter makes for a third good reason."

Hugh, who has pedaled off 25 pounds on the "bicycle diet", can often be seen cycling to the store or post office in Raytown with his 7-year-old and 18-month-old twins in tow.

Across Missouri, many rides and events are scheduled for May. Visit www.MoBikeFed.org for links to event calendars, bicycle clubs, and events around the state.

May is National Bike Month, May 17th-21st is Bike-to-Work Week, and Friday May 21st is Bike-to-Work Day.

The Missouri Bicycle Federation is a statewide, not-for-profit, membership organization that advocates advancement of bicycling access, safety, and education in Missouri. See www.MoBikeFed.org .
